Skin help- almost 40 and still have break outs! I do "squeeze" at pimples but I can't help it- you have to

in my opinion to get the infection out but I guess this is why I now have a blemish that actually has a little "scab plug" that when I scratch it accidentally it runs like a faucet. any info on face washes for sensitive skin would help --water water water I hear is one of the best things for your skin!!

There are a combination of reasons of why people get acne, and if you're almost 40 and still get it, you may want to consider these before you find a treatment. Acne's believed to be caused by hormones, heredity/genetics, stress or even environmental factors, and the reason one has acne may change how they'd go about treating it.

Try this website for more info on the causes/solutions to acne.

Pharmaceuticals often work but sometimes they rip nutrients from the skin, and since you have sensitive skin, topicals may be harsh. There are oral medications as well but I know that these primarily reduce testosterone which produces oil, and may cause other problems due to the reintroduced hormonal levels.

I know of several people who have tried non-UV based light therapy in spas or clinics and have had amazing results. Apparently about 70% of all people benefit from sun exposure, but because of UV it's not a great option in the long run.

If you think about it, consider what time of the year your skin is its healthiest. Most likely it's the spring or early summer. This is because as you have more exposure to the sun the light from it kills the bacteria in/on your skin preventing acne. But of course, too much sun causes many other skin problems that wouldn't be worth it. Light therapy eliminates the UV from the equation.

I have no idea how much something like this costs or how many/often treatments are necessary but I have seen the results that people have had. One friend has level four cystic acne and hasn't had a breakout in two months. Apparently, this also works on scarring and natural collagen production.

Definitely DO NOT squeeze. Often the scarring that squeezing causes is worse than the actual acne, and can make said scars last much longer.

You may also want to see a dermatologist if you haven't already done so.
Reply:If you are 40, then you should know better. You NEVER pick, pop or squeeze pimples. It makes the pimple MUCH worse, spreads the bacteria and causes permanent scars.

You CAN help it. No, you do not "have" to touch them. Acne medication clears the infection. Put some medication on them, leave them alone and they will clear up MUCH faster and much better. I bet your face is a mess--I also bet you have been picking, popping, squeezing for at least 20 years, right?
Reply:Use rubbing alcohol and it will clear it up quick ok
Reply:honestly just use soap and water three times a day but do not pick at them because they will only get worse. I do the same thing and it always happens but the best thing to do is to just let it be and it will go away. scratching makes it much worse.
