Dry skin due to acne products. NEED HELP!?

I'm starting to get dry skin from my acne medication. I use an oil free acne wash and I use an oil free acne fighting moisturizer on my face to try to help with the drying, but my skin still seems rather dry.

The acne is just starting to go away, and I want to keep at it so it finally just dies and I'll be able to stand on top of Mt. Whatever and exclaim my victory, but I also fear that this excessive drying is going to be damaging my skin like crazy.

I have very sensitive skin on my face, so I only use acne products with around 2-3.5% BP or 2% SA.

I would like to know if there are any masks I could put on to help moisturize my face or anything of the sort.

You may need to use a toner (hydrater) after cleansing. Check to see if the brand of wash you use also has a toner in its line of products. If not, just use a different brand for the toner.

Have you seen a dermatologist about your problem? The more insight you obtain on your condition, the better.
Reply:I would go to your local pharmacy and look at the lotions. Look for natural oil free moisturizers, and make sure they're alcohol free. A lot of acne medications and lotions actually have alcohol in them, which you probably aldready know, will dry your skin out.. Good Luck! =)
Reply:I advice you not to use any acne medicine, only wash your face 3 times a day in warm water, and don't eat oily food, this prevents your skin from becomming dry.
Reply:A few suggestions, from someone who's been dealing with acne for years:

- Don't combine acne medications, i.e. only use BP or SA, not both.

- If you're using the medication twice a day, switch to once a day, although you have to sacrifice the effectiveness of the medication on your acne if you use it less often.

- Use a very soft cotton washcloth and very gently wipe the medication off your face. If you scrub hard, you can irritate your skin and also cause it to flake out like it's dry.

- Use more moisturizer! I've tried the Proactiv oil free moisture, but I think Vaseline brand moisturizers work better, and I haven't had any problems with it increasing my acne.

Hope that helps.
