What is a good skin lightener/bleach product to use from drug stores?

I have sensitive skin. I want to get rid of dark blotches of skin and lighten my skin tone without my skin drying out. Thanks.

What is a good skin lightener/bleach product to use from drug stores?
oiliva herbal bleach u can get it in drug stores

it is very good for all types of skin
Reply:If you r black... DO NOT lighten your skin unless you have NO pride in your heritage. Being dark is beautiful.

And if ur not black WHY lighten ur skin. Ur skin was made the way it was for a reason. Why change?
Reply:jolen bleach is quite safe.
Reply:Nothing for me at the drugstore..............at home i use lemon to bleach, and various fruit extracts which are mild and effective
Reply:oh god please please please do NOT lighten your skin. i absolutely HATE people saying that dark skinned people are ugly... i think dark skin is beautiful and there is absolutely NO reason why you shouldn't think so too. your skin tone is beautiful no matter how dark it is and you need to accept that
Reply:ambi fade cream
Reply:Fem bleach cream and aloederm cream are very good combination.Bleach your face twice a month. Apply aloederm cream twice daily. In three months you can see spots disappears and you'll have a youthful skin.

Good advice for bad skin?

I'm at the end of my tether with skin! I've got blackheads on my nose, cheeks, forehead and chin; lots of little pimples on my forehead and cheeks and the ghost of red spots that went down months ago but won't go away. I've tried natural %26amp; unnatural face masks, which don't seem to help at all. I had some success with my blackheads using Biore Pore Perfect warming wash but to the detriment of the rest of my face which erupted in pimples after a month or so. I have very sensitive skin and so can't use things like Clearasil which burn my face. I exfoliate every 3 days with St. Ives Apricot Scrub which has made my skin very soft but not made it look any better. I currently wash my face with cold water, tone it with natural lavendar water %26amp; then moisturise with Simple. I have a super-healthy diet, drink loads of water and don't eat chocolate or wear makeup (which aggrevate my skin problems) but nothing seems to help! I am in desperate need of some advice!

Good advice for bad skin?
Try Aloe vera based remedies.
Reply:I use the biore blackhead strips which are quite good but it sounds like you're too sensitive for normal products, have you consulted a boots pharmasist? they may recommend something or sometimes the clarins counter does very good products for skin.
Reply:I can honestly say, water is a brilliant solution for most things....look around you..... everything we need is in nature.I am a water addict i LOVE the stuff, give me that any day to fizzy drinks and juices.

water keeps headaches away, keeps cellulite at bay, and keeps skin looking fresh.

I am 41 years old, I dont have cellulite, have very few headaches and I dont look my age.
Reply:I think it could be the Parfum and purfume in the products that could be irritating your skin.

Hope some of the websites might help

Good luck hope it gets sorted soon
Reply:The exfoliating might be a bit much, over exfoliation can aggravate the problem. I use a cream called Quinoderm it is very good but it is quite strong so I'm not sure your skin will like it, but you could give it a ago. I buy mine from the chemist counter in Tesco. Have you tried using a sunbed? i find this cures all my skin problems, a few sessions and my skin clears up perfectly and because you will tan slightly the red marks go down aswell. Other than that your doctor will be able to prescribe something.
Reply:I wonder if the Pro-Activ products would work for you?

I am usually skeptical of products offered on infomercials, but my grandson's acne got so bad that I decided to buy it for him. It has been really, really helpful in clearing up his skin. He uses it as directed and faithfully. Within 1 week his skin started looking better. ( He does have the odd breakout periodically, but not as bad and it clears up quicker now. )

Maybe it will work for you, too. You could also consult with a dermatologist. When my 2 youngest daughters had bad acne(they had cystic acne which is just about the worst kind) they were put on Diane 35 birth control pills. Sounds weird, but it is specially formulated to fight acne. They were each around 17 at the time and it worked like a miracle for them.

Hope this info is helpful to you, Violet.
Reply:hey why do you think you have a bad skin...

First of all dont think too much about your external appearance because it makes you more concsious..

i can understand your problem as even i have a personal experience about this.. see even i had pimples, marks on my face so i went to all kind of dermatologists... but it did not help me,,, so i made my self not to get too tensed about my face and beauty ,, to be frank many who used to praise my beauty and skin started finding flaws in my beauty but i did not bother as i knew internal beauty is the one remains at end.. so finaly i dont have pimpls now as it went all by itself only when i dint bother much about it...so dont let down your selves ..

i have you a tip-

wash your face only trice..

eat lot of fruits

drink lot of water...

donot eat junk eat healthy home food...

always keep yourselves out of tension,, i know its difficult but try it...

donot use lot of artificial cosmetics...

just wash your face apply a sun protected cream if you go out, if you are at home apply a simple mild mostuiser..

eat orange, papaya, watermelon amla as these fruits ,it improves skin..

eat well.. enjoy what you eat,, thats more important i think

AND MOST IMPORTANT IS DONOT TOUCH YOUR SKIN i know its tempting so cut your nails as they cause more harm.

finally donot think much about your external beauty,, if you have internal beauty you can make others happy and yourselves... so try out these tips...
Reply:Oh my god your poor thing: My best advice is check out the skin care products that realy works called The Arbonne Clear Advantage. The results are amazing and stay away from makeup that has mineral oils. They also have great makeup. visit the site: www.BeInspire.myarbonne.com
Reply:Arbonne does offer a wonderful skin care regime and it also has a daily supplement that works the inside out.

You are doing the exfoliating to much - cut back to once or twice a week.

Be kind to your face. Find a great product that washes and helps acne (that doesn't contain mineral oil)

a Toner, and then a nice solid day/night cream.

Do a mask once a week and exfoliate only twice (not on the day of the mask)!
Reply:I would recommend a product called All Clear. It has cleared up my son's face. He had similar problems. The All Clear line from BeautiControl offers several items for specific problems. First I would cleans both morning and night and scrub only 3 times per week. My son also uses the MicroDerm Abrasion from the same company every 2 weeks. It is a skin resurfacer. It helps with any scarring, discoloration, pour size, etc. It has done wonders. The products last 4 months. When you start using new products you can expect for your face to seem as it is getting worse. New products can pull toxions to the surface. I would give any product 2 weeks to get the real results.
Reply:How to Have Perfect Skin

Want to have beautiful skin, as flawless as it was when you were a baby? Do you want to see people looking at you and admiring how pretty is your skin? Here's how!

Steps

Steam your face when you wake up. This will open up your pores.

Cleanse your face gently with a mild baby facial soap or proactiv with luke warm water. These do not contain harsh chemicals that damage your skin.

A healthy lifestyle is essential. This means 1. Have a balanced diet full of vegetables and fruits 2. Drink 8 glasses of water per day 3. Excersize- try 30 minutes of yoga and a quick walk around the block with your iPod or mp3 player 4. Don't stress out. It might seem impossible, but it's easy! Try a foot massage, yoga, luxurious bubble bath or listen to your favourite music.

Use sunscreen with SPF 15 and re-apply every 2 hours if you are out in the sun. Choose one that does not contain harsh chemicals.

At night massage your face with olive oil. Then wash off with your soap and lukewarm water.

Sleep at least 8 hours a day.

Avoid caffein and sugar, as well as greasy, fatty foods.

Tips

Moisturise your lips with a lipbalm containing SPF 15.

If you have acne or pimples, use tea tree oil. Dab some tea tree oil on the area and leave it there.

Warnings

If you have severe problems with acne or pimples, such that you are extremely self-conscious, you should consult a doctor. There are medications available that may considerably reduce or cure acne.

Eating chocolate or fried foods will not increase your pimples/acne. Recently, it has been scientifically proven.

It might take some time before you notice the results, but be patient!
Reply:Hey

Well i work at the Body Shop and the best thing to use would be tea tree but if your skin is very sensitive then go for Seaweed. Go into a body shop near you and ask them to help you choose the best skin care. But i would really suggest the tea tree as it helps with spots and oily tee zones it especially helps with black heads as they have a nose pore mask and also a tea tree facial mask that would be the best thing.

Hope i helped.
Reply:Indian face mask.

A simple face mask made from runny honey and a few spoons of chick pea flour (gram flour) add few drops of hot water to binds the mixture to a smooth consistency.Apply and leave on for no more than10-15 minutes. Moisturise as normal.
Reply:As one that went thru this when younger, one thing I learned is to keep your hands away from your face!!!!!! That is number one! You would be surprised to find out how many times you lean into your hands (if bored) or touch face from being nervous or self-conscience.

Also, forget about most OTC products......use plain soap and water!!!!! The only thing topical is an oxy 5%-10% to get your zits under control. Use this cream sparingly and only on the worst areas. Once the blemishes fade use a less % of the cream.

Water is good. Do not believe the myths about how blemishes are caused......it is all about keeping your skin clean!
Reply:I occasionally get spots and outbreaks. Some products work for you, others don't. It depends on the individual. I suggest you go and see a dermatologist who are experts in skincare. They would be in a position to advise you as to which creams would suit your skin. You could go and see one, ask for some samples to try the product and see how that works on your skin.
Reply:Just stick to one range otherwise the products will react with each other. I use the Simple range it don't use any colours or perfume and don't use unnecessary additives they do things for the skin like moisturiser but there is a light one for the day and a thicker one for the night they even do shampoo and deodorant so take a look a what they have you might need to spend about £30 to get all the things you need but its well worth it .
Reply:Sounds like acne. See your doctor, he will prescribe antibiotics, and may refer you to a dematologist. DON'T use any cleansers, toners, etc. PLAIN unperfumed soap, no moisturisers
Reply:Washing it too much can make it worse. Also, exfoliate once a week. Have you tried proactiv. I was super skepitcal and did not think I would have to invest in it because of all the other products out there. But I got it and it has done wonders for me. Also, try reducing your stress. Stress can also make it worse
Reply:vichy. don't buy oily products.
Reply:I think you should go see your GP %26amp; ask to be put on anitciotics for your acne %26amp; also to be referred to a dermatologist. You should be using oil-free products! Dermalogica has a good range of products for different skin types-you should try theirstarter kit which cost around 20 quid. The micradermabrasion facial is good for acne %26amp; scars.
Reply:Body shop products are quite good. They cleared up my skin quite a lot since I started using them. Sunbeds also help, but do not go there a lot, it's not very good for you, 1 session a week should be enough and shouldn't cause any harm. I wish you the very best of luck...Oh yea...I have also heard that African Black soap is very good for all sorts of skin products! is 100% natural as well it should be good for you as you hasve sensitive skin (just like me)
Reply:wash ur skin twice a day with soap and warm water
Reply:Sounds like you need a chemical exfoliant (Beta Hydroxy Acid or Alpha Hydroxy Acid) rather than a physical one (scrub). Try Paula's Choice skin care. You can buy sample sizes to try things out. I've found it to be the best! Plus you learn so much about skin from her site.

www.paulaschoice.com
Reply:Go buy St. Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish and Blackhead Control for Oily Acne prone skin. Even though your skin is sensitive it is medicated with salicylic acid which helps to unclog pores and in your case with blackheads and whiteheads or even bumpy skin.

There are 5 Swiss botanticals

Oil Free

2% Salicylic Acid

Medicated Formula deep cleanses your pores leaving skin clear smooth and radiant.

I used this for 2 months now I have no bumps on my cheeks and almost all the bumps on my forehead are gone. My blackheads on my nose and forehead just vanished within 1 week. I use this everyday in the morning before shower and sometimes 3 times a day. I never had a problem. Im darker skin like medium toned. I hope it works for you because it works wonders for me
Reply:Seems like you have tried everything. Maybe you should consider consulting a doctor or professional dermatologist. There might be something not functioning as it should be internally. In the meantime, don't ex foliate you skin too often, which could end up in aggravating the skin too.
Reply:Take vitamin c supplements every day with retard release it builds up the protective skin immune against bacteries avoid for a while yeast and milk products, instead of water drink loads of green tea it purifies and illuminates the skin.

Don't use cold water but warm.Dab some liquid clay( cosmetic mudd) directly on spots before you go to bed it will reduce inflammation and stop it spreading.

Never exfoliate when there are spots because you will just spread them more.

The more serious cure is Retinol A treatment which your doctor prescribes under guidance and precautions .It works after couple of months never to return again.

Medium Acne Products for my skin?

I have semi sensitive skin and I need to find a product that doesn't have any oils in it, will unclog and make my pores smaller, and gets rid of pimples. My skinis a combination for only my t-zone is oily. I am useing Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Cleanser for now because 1, I like clean and CLean and 2, I need to be able to find it at CVS. I did try Proactiv, but it didn't work for me. I am getting desperate because I have tried soooooooo many products but I can't find the right cleanser. My skin is somwhat sensitive so I don't need anything harsh harsh. I would like to stay in the Clean and Clear line though. Also, I would want something that helps keep acne away. Please help and Thanks for your comments.

Medium Acne Products for my skin?
I would simply purchase a facial scrub...one that doesn't have any acne medication in it. Also buy a mild bar soap. After you've lathered up with the soap, scrub you're face with the face scrub. Rub in little circles. After, you can add a calming lotion. Don't choose anything too thick that will clogg you're pores. Once that's soaked in, use acne medication only on infected areas. Don't use it on you're whole face if you don't need too! It might not work right away, but the scrub should allow your pores to get rid of all that junk!
Reply:I also have sensitive skin, and the products that made my acne go away are Biore prods. I started using the Unclogging Pore Scrub and the Ice Cleanser, and my face is much more clearer. The scrub is really gentle that I used to use it everyday (but I dont recommend that because it is still a scrub). I also suggest something with soothing extracts like the Neutrogena One less Stress Acne Wash.
Reply:I have sensitive skin also so I know what your going through...

I had a hard time finding Gentle face wash that actaully works... and when I did find some I was very pleased!

Heres what I use, Neutrogena Oil -Free Acne wash (I've included a picture so you could see what it looks like) And this stuff is VERY gentle I love it!

http://img103.imageshack.us/img103/3999/...

Also I found this which I've noticed helps keep Acne away!

Clean%26amp;Clear Fizzing Cleanser... Apply it to your DRY face and let it sit for a few minutes then rinse it off... (theres also a Picture)

http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/4594/...

I use the Clean%26amp;Clear Morning Glow Mosterizer after I use one of the Face washes above because they dry out my skin.. and the Mosterizer doesn't clog your pores!

I've seen dramatic change in my face since I stated useing these products!

I'm sure they'll work for you too!

Skin help- almost 40 and still have break outs! I do "squeeze" at pimples but I can't help it- you have to

in my opinion to get the infection out but I guess this is why I now have a blemish that actually has a little "scab plug" that when I scratch it accidentally it runs like a faucet. any info on face washes for sensitive skin would help --water water water I hear is one of the best things for your skin!!

Skin help- almost 40 and still have break outs! I do "squeeze" at pimples but I can't help it- you have to
There are a combination of reasons of why people get acne, and if you're almost 40 and still get it, you may want to consider these before you find a treatment. Acne's believed to be caused by hormones, heredity/genetics, stress or even environmental factors, and the reason one has acne may change how they'd go about treating it.

Try this website for more info on the causes/solutions to acne.

http://www.niams.nih.gov/hi/topics/acne/...

Pharmaceuticals often work but sometimes they rip nutrients from the skin, and since you have sensitive skin, topicals may be harsh. There are oral medications as well but I know that these primarily reduce testosterone which produces oil, and may cause other problems due to the reintroduced hormonal levels.

I know of several people who have tried non-UV based light therapy in spas or clinics and have had amazing results. Apparently about 70% of all people benefit from sun exposure, but because of UV it's not a great option in the long run.

If you think about it, consider what time of the year your skin is its healthiest. Most likely it's the spring or early summer. This is because as you have more exposure to the sun the light from it kills the bacteria in/on your skin preventing acne. But of course, too much sun causes many other skin problems that wouldn't be worth it. Light therapy eliminates the UV from the equation.

I have no idea how much something like this costs or how many/often treatments are necessary but I have seen the results that people have had. One friend has level four cystic acne and hasn't had a breakout in two months. Apparently, this also works on scarring and natural collagen production.

Definitely DO NOT squeeze. Often the scarring that squeezing causes is worse than the actual acne, and can make said scars last much longer.

You may also want to see a dermatologist if you haven't already done so.
Reply:If you are 40, then you should know better. You NEVER pick, pop or squeeze pimples. It makes the pimple MUCH worse, spreads the bacteria and causes permanent scars.

You CAN help it. No, you do not "have" to touch them. Acne medication clears the infection. Put some medication on them, leave them alone and they will clear up MUCH faster and much better. I bet your face is a mess--I also bet you have been picking, popping, squeezing for at least 20 years, right?
Reply:Use rubbing alcohol and it will clear it up quick ok
Reply:honestly just use soap and water three times a day but do not pick at them because they will only get worse. I do the same thing and it always happens but the best thing to do is to just let it be and it will go away. scratching makes it much worse.

Any over the counter products to treat acne, oily skin, and the redness left by acne?

Ok, my dermatologist suggest that I wash my face in the shower with a cleanser but thing is, my face dries up real fast in the shower and after couple minutes out of the shower, my face starts to get real oily. I'm currently washing my face with a bar of soap, is this ok? He recommended putting lotion on after a shower however my skin is real sensitive that I cant use Cetaphil (which is what everyone uses) Im on medication right now taking Doxycycline. It doesnt help treat acne but rather slows the formation down. Is there a product that can get rid of oily skin? What about the red pigments left on your skin after acne? I have REAL sensitive skin. Thanks for the help!

Any over the counter products to treat acne, oily skin, and the redness left by acne?
I feel your pain my 12 year old daughter has horrible oily skin. I found a website that has natural remedies that you can make and use at home. I will send you some, they work really well.

Peace

Reply:Try honey and cinnamon. Yes, its sticky but take it from an 'older adult' that still suffers from acne...IT WORKS.

Look for "pimples" under this link:

Reply:An oily skin , as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film , that needs to be removed daily. For more details log to http://useinfo-oilyskin.blogspot.com/
Reply:I started using the ZapZyt 3 step acne pack a little over a week ago and it's already improved my skin so much. My skin used to be oily and I had a lot of blackheads on my nose, it was only noticeable up close, but it still bugged me. I break out to a lot because I have sensitive skin and it didn't break me out and seriously the day i started using it my skin looked so much better. Try that because a bar of soap doesn't always clean your face right. Good luck finding something.
Reply:To treat the redness cause by acne you should use topical niacinamide. It would be best to use topical antibacterial like 2.5% benzoyl peroxide because it has fewer side effects.

you should check out http://www.acnetreatmentlab.com for more info

Skin Care?

Ok, so I use Clean and Clear Dual action cleanser. Every day on my face. I have been using it for over 1 year. It works great, it gets rid of my pimples. So my problem is that my skin is oily and I have big pores. Is there any products that minimize the size of pores without causing pimples. I have very sensitive skin. I also have blemishes from other non-pimply acne looking stuff. I want to get rid of my blemishes, oil, and minimize pores. Is there a product for that?

Skin Care?
Hi, I'm not certain on what types of over the counter products work, however I heard using cucumber slices will help with blemishes. Visit http://www.realhomeremedies.com and click on the acne link to the left.

Skin products for acne??
I have sensitive skin and I use Neutrogen Advanced Solutions (it is a treatment for your face, it includes the cleanser, day moisturizer, and night lotion). I have tried everything and the only thing that had work for me so far was this product. It only coast $30.00 you can buy it at any drug store like Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreen's etc.. So far everyone is telling you about one product not an acne treatment. However, proactive does not work (for me and I have very sensitive skin) for everyone and I have tried dermatologist. The only thing they would do is give you a lot of samples to see if they work or not. You can not find!! a product that would eliminate acne (theirs no way because your body always go thought changes). I hope that I was helpful!!

Good Luck!!!
Reply:clinique products are real harsh. i have used som este lauder products for skin and that has help
Reply:proactive, it's easy on your skin and you can see the results in like 2 days
Reply:Proactive and Wal-Mart has a knock off to the (generic) proactive line.
Reply:you can get clearisal that is made specifcally for sensative skin and works well at clearing up acne too
Reply:olay!!!!! i have been using it for a year now, and my face is absoulutely clear!!!!!! all my friends ask what i use, and i just say, oh, just this stuff my mom uses......but i dont know where she gets it from........and say, the name is.....i dont know....oryla cleanser!!! lol

hoped this helped =)
Reply:I have bad acne too. I think it is from touching my face, my hands are really oily and clammy all the time. I don't use anything on my face though, it seems like everytime I try something on my face, It gets even worse, then I stop and It gets better.

See if your insurance covers a dermatologist or whatever those skin doctors are called. If it does, go to one of them and you shouldn't have to pay more then 50 dollars after the insurance kicks in.

Good luck. :)
Reply:you should try clearasile... i do believe it is easy to fine and you can get it in a big bottle...

its not proactive but it really does work for me and lots of my friends use it....

just try it it should be gone after 2 days with this stuff
Reply:I have acne and I used proactiv and it worked well. You have to use it exactly like it says though to get good results--2-3 times a day. My friend uses a skin care line from BeautiControl that he says works well, too.

Skin care for me?

and sorry for not answering questions latley. school is such a bummer!! =[

Skin care for me?
i do believe that we have the same, oily to combination skin type, especially around our T-Zone. It is interesting for people to think that avoiding creams can help solve oily skin. But its wrong.

You can best help your skin if you do the 3-step facial regimen: wash, tone and moisturize. Washing helps remove dust that accumulated on the surface of the skin, toning provides additional cleaning as well as it preps the skin by removing dead skin cells that can just block healthy cells' absorption of the third step, the moisturizer.

The key is to be able to find the right product to help you with your problem. I can suggest the brand: Mario Badescu. They have a line of products that really is good for our type of skin, I personally recommend the Enzyme Cleansing Wash, Cucumber Toner and the best HONEY MOISTURIZER. If you use these products, they don't have the same ''stretched-dry-skin" that other products leave. This is often the misconception of people, that dryness and no oil means clean skin. What Mario Badescu does is gently and effectively clean it. Plus they're natural.

For additional cleaning and maintenance on acne, try their DRYING LOTION pink stuff that you put on your pimples which dries it, ACNE GEL, which serves as your drying lotion maintenance during day time. Check out their line of products online. I dont work for them, its just that they really work and i would like to share it with you.

Kudos to a healthier skin.

Skin help!?
neutrogena and cetaphil are really good.I have very sensitive skin myself and can only use them every other day but they work good and they can be purchased at walmart or any drug store. A good prescription is Differin Gel it works fast and good.
Reply:st ives apricot scrub, clearasil, and this medicine that starts with a d
Reply:The ones that i have used that DONT work are st. ives, clearasol, stridex, ummmmm an some other one. I think that NOOTRUDGINA haha might work you should try that one. haha we can test um all out that. you try one kind i will try another. if one workks hooray and we found it in half the time! i will prolly get mine at albertsons or fredmyer, i assume you will be getting them at fred myer. im exited!

Skin problems? female?

i have recently just stopped getting acne which affected me for about 4 years or so. i dont wear foundation but i would like to use an illuminator to brighten up my cheeks because my skin is almost clear now. where can i find a good but cheap one that wont break my bank account!! preferably maybelliene , loreal or rimmel. an d also i have sensitive skin would it be alright to use a face scrub?

Skin problems? female?
Almay makeup seems to work well with my skin to be sensitive, non oily and gentle to remove.
Reply:i use revlon skinlights, its a light face shimmer that highlights your face and doesnt clog pores or cause acne. a light finish does the job and itll make you glow!!! its kinda expensive but worth it, and it also lasts forever!a little goes a long way!
Reply:OK for a gentle scrub. I do not know if you find Yves Rocher cosmetics in your country ? they worked for me.

What about L'Oreal HappyDerm ? It is a day cream. Costed about 6 or 7 eur and worked nicely for me, too
Reply:If you prefer to stick with a cheaper brand then Loreal is the way to go. The are the sister company to Lancome so they have a good reputation and good product. If you want a good one a face highlighter that i personally love is from Victorias Secret. Runs like $18.00. Last's forever as long as you dont drop it.
Reply:You have to find one specifically made for sensitive skin. Neutrogena has them. If you use the regular stuff you are going to damage the ph balance and cause yourself some problems. Even sensitive skin formulas can be too strong. You have to use your judgement on whether or not to use them every day or just 3 times a week or even once a week. It depends on your skin. My dermatologist told me that it takes about 4 to 6 weeks for any product to have a favorable effect, so this product hunting will take a while. Good luck.
Reply:You won't find a good cheap one. Cheap Will make your face break out. If you want a good illuminator your going to have to spend at least 20-30, if you want a good one. Go to a department store in the mall and ask one of the make-up clerk to help you out. They can even put some on for you so you can see what it looks like before you buy it. GOOD LUCK.
Reply:Try mineral makeup. It is light but covers spots.

Skin Reaction to Fake tan?

Hi All

I started using Garnier summer body as my skin is fair and I wanted some colour.

I have now developed a tan but with it a horrible red itchy bumpy rash and it hurts like hell!!

Can anyone help and also is this normal? Does anyone know of a fake tan lotion that doesn't irritate sensitive skins?

Thanks

Lolli x

Skin Reaction to Fake tan?
You are allergic to the product that creates the tan -- so am I.

I use Olay's "Touch Of Sun" which is more of a lotion with a little self-tanner added, and it works fine with no bumps.

Skin rash help?

My boyfriend has a skin rash that shows up occasionally near his groin. I am his first sexual partner, as he is mine. I was wondering what this could be. He has sensitive skin to begin with. He is allergic to most fragrances and dyes but we can't think of anything new that could have been from that source.

Could he be allergic to latex? Or wouldn't his member have a rash as well? It sorta looks like a type of eczema, but not quite. Any suggestions are helpful. He has a doctors appointment for next month, but that doesn't seem like it will help us much. (Soonest he could be put into the office.)

Skin rash help?
It sounds like Joke itch. Go ahead and take him to his appointment but until then you shuld pick up an OTC cream for it. I'm sure they'll have some at your local Wal*Mart.
Reply:BABY POWDER is the solution....PUT some of it near his groin....
Reply:could be a latex allergy, but that is not likely. It might be a heat rash or if you(shave) you might be rubbing and causing the rash. i would look at this as a possibility.
Reply:If he does shave that could be one- being his only partner, I'd be careful if you ever use any lubes or creams down there before sex.

The fact that you said it was more at the top and not on his actual member makes alot of sense. As sensitive as his member is-the skin and pores are different at his groin to his member. (be thankful)

I...am actually allergic to many dyes and alchols (fragrances) as is my son He breaks out in a horrible rash. But I'm also allergic to sweat on my legs...yeah- I know that sounds really crazy. It irritates my pores until I breakout where my skin turns all red and it burns alot. When a man or women walks-or is in heated wheather- you do sweat in that location.

Some simple treatments are oatmeal bath or rub (try aveno) most commonly used for rashes and help so it's all natural and you can probablly find that at Wal-mart. My grandmother swears by apple cyder vinegar- she has the same rash as me...and it does help as well as for things such as jelly fish stings and sunburns. He can drink two teaspoons a day and rub it on the area- the down side is...it does smell but aparently helps. If it is sweat, baby powder might help- they do have adult powders and if you go to a health store you can find all natural ones with out perfumes in it. I would hate you to do more harm than damage.

And then again-it could be eczema. It appears more ways than one-my best friend's husband only gets it on his back and scalp. Just be careful if you are pregnant- because eczema is related to the chicken pox down the line and can cause a miscarrige.

What is a good skin lightener/bleach product to use from drug stores?

I have sensitive skin. I want to get rid of dark blotches of skin and lighten my skin tone without my skin drying out. Thanks.

What is a good skin lightener/bleach product to use from drug stores?
Sensitive skin should be treated only by a dermatologist. For dark spots; HYDROQUINE is great with the pigmentation. Reduces the dark spots really well. If you skin lightens easily, Palmer's make mild 2% hydroquine which is avaialable in most stores.
Reply:There are a bunch of skin care products you can find in drugstores that contain the active ingredient Hydroquinone which lightens skin and skin discolorations. Its mild and does help after some time of using it but its nothing too drastic. The brand I use is Porcelana. It evens out the skin tone and lightens my birthmark on my face. You should try it and see how it works for you.
Reply:Many beauty products on the market have harmful chemicals in them; do your favorite beauty products contain any of these things?:

* Mineral Oil, Paraffin, and Petrolatum – Petroleum products that coat the skin like plastic, clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins, which in turn accumulate and can lead to dermatologic issues. Slows cellular development, which can cause you to show earlier signs of aging. Suspected cause of cancer. Disruptive of hormonal activity. By the way, when there’s an oil spill in the ocean, don’t they rush to clean it up – fast? Why put that stuff on your skin?

* Parabens – Widely used as preservatives in the cosmetic industry (including moisturizers). An estimated 13,200 cosmetic and skin care products contain parabens. Studies implicate their connection with cancer. They have hormone-disrupting qualities – mimicking estrogen – and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

* Phenol carbolic acid– Found in many lotions and skin creams. Can cause circulatory collapse, paralysis, convulsions, coma and even death from respiratory failure.

* Propylene glycol – Used as a moisturizer in cosmetics and as a carrier in fragrance oils. Shown to cause dermatitis, kidney or liver abnormalities, and may inhibit skin cell growth or cause skin irritation.

* Acrylamide– Found in many hand and face creams. Linked to mammary tumors in lab research.

* Sodium laurel or lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laureth sulfate (SLES)– Found in car washes, engine degreasers, garage floor cleaners… and in over 90% of personal care products! SLS breaks down the skin’s moisture barrier, easily penetrates the skin, and allows other chemicals to easily penetrate. Combined with other chemicals, SLS becomes a “nitrosamine”, a potent class of carcinogen. It can also cause hair loss. SLES is sometimes disguised with the labeling “comes from coconut” or “coconut-derived

* Toluene – Poison! Danger! Harmful or fatal if swallowed! Harmful if inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Made from petroleum or coal tar, and found in most synthetic fragrances. Chronic exposure linked to anemia, lowered blood cell count, liver or kidney damage, and may affect a developing fetus. Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) contains toluene. Other names may include benzoic and benzyl.

* Dioxane– Found in compounds known as PEG, Polysorbates, Laureth, ethoxylated alcohols. Common in a wide range of personal care products. The compounds are usually contaminated with high concentrations of highly volatile 1,4-dioxane, easily absorbed through the skin.

Dioxane’s carcinogenicity was first reported in 1965 and later confirmed in studies including one from the National Cancer Institute in 1978. Nasal passages and liver are the most vulnerable. Dioxane is easily removed during the manufacturing process by “vacuum stripping”.

Warning: It is a synthetic derivative of coconut. Watch for hidden language on labels, such as “comes from coconut”.

IF SO, you should throw them away IMMEDIATELY and substitute virgin/extra virgin olive oil or natural coconut oil in the meantime until you find a better alternative!!! Tell ALL your friends and family!!!
Reply:my fave is dermaline skin whitening cream.. it's a potent skin lightener worth your $9 but you can buy it online.

Black People if you ever had this skin problem please help!!!!!?

Okay this is what happened in may 2007 I went to Grande Bahamas and burned almost to death because of the uv rays, i was using coppertone sunscreen 30 and turned out it made my skin cook even more and I looked like I was in a house fire I had 2nd degree burns on my face.

I don't want this to happen again. This time around I am going to cabo san lucas and I want to be able to walk around and have a pleasant time. My skin is very very sensitive to the sun. Please if anyone can suggest a sunscreen not made by coppertone, for black sensitive skin it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please Help!!!

Black People if you ever had this skin problem please help!!!!!?
I am not black, but it seems it would make sense to increase to a higher SPF. They make them up to 55, if not more. I would definitely use something strong, the sun is stronger in those areas, especially with the ocean reflecting it.
Reply:yes use a higher spf ... try NO AD thats what i use ... also be sure to put the sunscreen on at least 20 mins before you go out into the sun ... if you put it on while you are out on the beach or right before you go out ... then its kinda like rubbing butter on your skin -- hence why your skin " cooked" last time
Reply:go natural and carry a umbrella...since your skin is sensitive i wouldn't risk it....♥░♥░■

Help shaving sensitive face!?

I have thick, coarse hair on my face, and have always had trouble with rashes after shaving. I shave in a hot shower or in a hot bath, I use sensitive skin lotion, and I have tried all the razors, I just bought the gillette phantom. I have tried Nevea after-shave balm, and even vasoline intensive care. I still get rashes when I shave against the grain, and even when I just shave down. Will I ever be able to shave against the grain? What are my options?

Help shaving sensitive face!?
Try waxing! And have it done by a nice salon, they will know what they are doing, and have seen everything in the book. And it will stay away a lot longer so you won't irritate it so much unlike if you were to save.
Reply:Blah
Reply:I say try threading. It hurts the first time but the results are amazing and totally worth it.
Reply:You can wax it off- one option.

If you insist on shaving, if you can get in the habit of using a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to rid of dead cells, and make sure to use an astringant like a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water to kill bacteria in the small cuts on your face. Avoid sun exposure to freshly shaved areas, do not apply moisturizers if your skin is that severely sensitive. You might try a light coat of neosporin and shave before bed. If you shave before bed, make sure your pillow case is fresh and clean- any oil body soil can creep it's way into broken- even small cuts and create a rash.

If the rash doesn't go away you might be spreading something like eczema- dry sensitive skin that when shaving becomes inflamed and irritated. I would ask a doctor to evaluate it.
Reply:The best combo that I have found is the Aveno Oatmeal Shave Gel and a Gilette Excel
Reply:Use all natural product from whole food and trader joes
Reply:ALWAYS USE A VERY GOOD RAZOR EVEN IF IT COST A LITTLE EXTRA $$$$$$$ I NOTICED THE CHEAP AS DIRT RAZORS GIVE ME WILD RAZOR BURNS ON MY LEGS ....... ALL I COULD SAY IS YOU MIGHT CAN TRY A BIC WOMANS RAZOR IF WANT TO SAVE A LITTLE MONEY PUT I HADNT HAD PROBLEMS OUT OF THEM SO FAR ........ THE ONE I USE ARE THE CLEAR COLORFUL ONES WHICH DO REALLY GOOD ON ME AND YES MY HUBBY USES THEM ON HIS FACE TOO AND I NEVER SEE A RASH ON HIM ANYMORE SINCE WE HAVE BEEN USING THE BIC RAZORS
Reply:The problem is not your razor. The problem is your skin care products.Use NutriMenC RE Resurface shave gel.It is formulated for exactly what you are describing.Your skin is very sensitive to some of the chemicals in the shave gels you are using. This stuff works!!!

Skin Problems, help?
Acne is an inflammatory disease of the skin, caused by changes in the pilosebaceous units (skin structures consisting of a hair follicle and its associated sebaceous gland). Acne lesions are commonly referred to as pimples, spots or zits.

The condition is most common in puberty. It is considered an abnormal response to normal levels of the male hormone testosterone. The response for most people diminishes over time and acne thus tends to disappear, or at least decrease, after one reaches his or her early twenties. There is, however, no way to predict how long it will take for it to disappear entirely, and some individuals will continue to suffer from acne decades later, into their thirties and forties and even beyond. Acne affects a large percentage of humans at some stage in life.

Exactly why some people get acne and some do not is not fully known. It is known to be partly hereditary. Several factors are known to be linked to acne:

- Hormonal activity, such as menstrual cycles and puberty

- Diet

- Stress, through increased output of hormones from the adrenal (stress) glands.

- Hyperactive sebaceous glands, secondary to the three hormone sources above.

- Accumulation of dead skin cells.

- Bacteria in the pores, to which the body becomes 'allergic'.

- Skin irritation or scratching of any sort will activate inflammation.

- Use of anabolic steroids.

- Any medication containing halogens (iodides, chlorides, bromides), lithium, barbiturates, or androgens.

- Exposure to high levels of chlorine compounds, particularly chlorinated dioxins, can cause severe, long-lasting acne, known as Chloracne.

Traditionally, attention has focused mostly on hormone-driven over-production of sebum as the main contributing factor of acne. More recently, more attention has been given to narrowing of the follicle channel as a second main contributing factor. Abnormal shedding of the cells lining the follicle, abnormal cell binding ("hyperkeratinization") within the follicle, and water retention in the skin (swelling the skin and so pressing the follicles shut) have all been put forward as important mechanisms. Several hormones have been linked to acne: the male hormones testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS), as well as insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I). In addition, acne-prone skin has been shown to be insulin resistant[citation needed].

Development of acne vulgaris in later years is uncommon, although this is the age group for Rosacea which may have similar appearances. True acne vulgaris in adults may be a feature of an underlying condition such as pregnancy and disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome or the rare Cushing's syndrome. Dermatologists are seeing more cases of menopause-associated acne as fewer women replace the natural anti-acne ovarian hormone estradiol whose production fails as women arrive at menopause. The lack of estradiol also causes thinning hair, hot flashes, thin skin, wrinkles, vaginal dryness, and predisposes to osteopenia and osteoporosis as well as triggering acne (known as acne climacterica in this situation).

Misconceptions about causes

There are many misconceptions and rumors about what does and does not cause the condition:

Diet

Diet. One study [specify] suggested that chocolate, french fries, potato chips and sugar, among others, affect acne. A high GI (glycemic index) diet that causes sharp rises in blood sugar worsens acne. This, however, has been refuted by dermatologists as myth. If this study's conclusions are verified then a low GI diet may help acne, but a recent review of somewhat dated scientific literature cannot affirm either way. A recent study, based on a survey of 47,335 women, did find a positive epidemiological association between acne and consumption of partially skimmed milk, instant breakfast drink, sherbet, cottage cheese and cream cheese. The researchers hypothesize that the association may be caused by hormones (such as several sex hormones and bovine IGF-I) present in cow milk. Although the association between milk and acne has been definitively shown, the ingredient in the milk responsible for the acne is still unclear. Most dermatologists are awaiting confirmatory research linking diet and acne but some support the idea that acne sufferers should experiment with their diets, and refrain from consuming such fare if they find such food affects the severity of their acne.

Seafood, on the other hand, may contain relatively high levels of iodine. Iodine is known to make existing acne worse but there is probably not enough to cause an acne outbreak.[8] Still, people who are prone to acne may want to avoid excessive consumption of foods high in iodine.

It has also been suggested that there is a link between a diet high in refined sugars and other processed foods and acne. According to this hypothesis, the startling absence of acne in non-westernized societies could be explained by the low glycemic index of these cultures' diets. Others have cited possible genetic reasons for there being no acne in these populations, but similar populations shifting to Western diets do develop acne. Note also that the populations studied consumed no milk or other dairy products. Further research is necessary to establish whether a reduced consumption of high-glycemic foods (such as soft drinks, sweets, white bread) can significantly alleviate acne, though consumption of high-glycemic foods should in any case be kept to a minimum, for general health reasons. Avoidance of 'junk food' with its high fat and sugar content is also recommended. On the other hand there is no evidence that fat alone makes skin more oily or acne worse.

Available treatments

There are many products sold for the treatment of acne, many of them without any scientifically-proven effects. Generally speaking successful treatments give little improvement within the first week or two; and then the acne decreases over approximately 3 months, after which the improvement starts to flatten out. Treatments that promise improvements within 2 weeks are likely to be largely disappointing. Short bursts of cortisone, quick bursts of antibiotics and many of the laser therapies offer a quick reduction in the redness, swelling and inflammation when used correctly, but none of these empty the pore of all the materials that trigger the inflammation. Emptying the pores takes months.

Modes of improvement are not necessarily fully understood but in general treatments are believed to work in at least 4 different ways (with many of the best treatments providing multiple simultaneous effects):

normalising shedding into the pore to prevent blockage

- killing P. acnes

- antinflammatory effects

- hormonal manipulation

A combination of treatments can greatly reduce the amount and severity of acne in many cases. Those treatments that are most effective tend to have greater potential for side effects and need a greater degree of monitoring, so a step-wise approach is often taken. Many people consult with doctors when deciding which treatments to use, especially when considering using any treatments in combination. There are a number of treatments that have been proven effective:

Cotton pads soaked in salicylic acid solution can be used to exfoliate the skin.

Exfoliating the skin

This can be done either mechanically, using an abrasive cloth or a liquid scrub, or chemically. Common chemical exfoliating agents include salicylic acid and glycolic acid, which encourage the peeling of the top layer of skin to prevent a build-up of dead skin cells which combine with skin oil to block pores. It also helps to unblock already clogged pores.[citation needed] Note that the word "peeling" is not meant in the visible sense of shedding, but rather as the destruction of the top layer of skin cells at the microscopic level. Depending on the type of exfoliation used, some visible flaking is possible. Moisturizers and anti-acne topicals containing chemical exfoliating agents are commonly available over-the-counter. Mechanical exfoliation is less commonly used as many benefits derived from the exfoliation are negated by the act of mechanically rubbing and irritating the skin.

Hygiene

Deficient personal hygiene. Acne is not caused by dirt. This misconception probably comes from the fact that comedones look like dirt stuck in the openings of pores. The black color is simply not dirt but compact keratin. In fact, the blockages of keratin that cause acne occur deep within the narrow follicle channel, where it is impossible to wash them away. These plugs are formed by the failure of the cells lining the duct to separate and flow to the surface in the sebum created there by the body.

* Hope these will help you more understand the cause of your problem, it not only need heel from external but as well as internal, life style and your diet.

Reply:Aside from examining your diet and drinking lots of water. Make sure you wash regularly with a good cleanser (2x a day) and moisturize. You want a cleanser that does not dry out your skin too much and a moisturizer that will do the job but will make your skin greasy. I personally really love the kiehl's products, however, they can be a bit pricey.
Reply:you have to start with a healthy diet.. eat alot of fruits and veggies.. you should exercise, this will contribute to having a great skin.. don't touch your face with hand or atleast avoid touching your face w/ your hands.. tame your hair, avoid getting it on your face because you might pass germs that will further augment the acne prob.. use gentle cleansers, or you can try proactive solutions...

hope this helps!

Skin question?

As anyone heard of a skin product called clenia? it's a wash and cream and it's supposed to be good to clear up acne...but i'm not sure if it's for mild acne? which is what i have. also if you have heard of it, is it for sensitive skin?

Skin question?
i recently visi5ted the doctor specifically to see what is a good thing i should do for my syko skin which is driving me crazy, i use proactive benzyl peroxide, clarins anythning i cna get my hands on that makes it feel like its doing something. the doctor said to simply throw all these products out as they are doing more harm to my skin. They say to get a decent skin treating tablet such as vibratabs, cream such as differen which is a miracle worker i use it religiously and to wash your face once a day with 'cetaphil' it is extremely good on sensitive skin and she said you should see results in atleast 2 weeks, i know its a long wait but it should be worth it!

hope your skin clears up

Skin problem?

Right now I am 16 and wear very little makeup. My face looks a little red and isnt very smooth. I have some-what sensitive skin so a lot of products might not help. Is there an inexpensive cream i can put on to make my skin look better? I'd really appriciate your help!

Skin problem?
Be careful with what types of cream you put on your face. with sensitive skin, you should try to find facial cleansers and moisturizers that are as natural as possible.

You also might want to get an allergy test done by an allergist. Steer clear of dermatologist until you are a little older, because they will try to ply you with all types of crap for your face. Trust me I know.

Try to stay as natural as possible. I learned the hard way.
Reply:I think the first step you need to do is find out what causes your skin to be red and rough. Your dermatologist can recommend suitable make up for your skin type and get rid of yours skin problem.
Reply:The best thing you can do for yourself is to invest in a good cleansing program. I highly recommend Serious Skin Care through HSN.com or the Home Shopping Network. They have the perfect program for all skin types and ages.

Skin redness??

I started using clean and clear persa gel 10% benzoyl peroxide. At first it seemed fine then I thought my forhead and around my nose started looking a little pink.So I started using it every other day.My skin is still pink so I havent been using it for about 3 or 4 days now.How long untill the red in my face goes away???I havent been using anything harsh.I use Cetaphil or Dove beauty bar for sensitive skin.

Skin redness??
10 % is quite strong, especially for mild acne or for sensitive skin. The redness should be gone in another 2 or 3 days if you use nothing except your Cetaphil. Once the redness is resolved, I would recommend reducing to the 2.5% and see how your skin responds.

Dry flaky skin?

I live in New England so the weather can be harsh on my sensitive skin. But lately I've been trying to take good care of my skin and keep fresh and pimple free. But my problem is that I wash with noxema, I use oxy spot treatment and I use aveeno to moisturize but when I put makeup and cover up on you can see flaky dry skin. My question is how do I make the flakes go away and stay away and are there any tips?

please help!

Dry flaky skin?
Ok. First things first, the flaky dry skin tells me that you need to exfoliate, but not necessarily with beady/apricot scrubby products.. I myself have sensitive skin and use Zirh Clean, which has natural AHAs in it.. glycolic acid, sugar cane juice.. I've found it's great for exfoliating without making my skin too dry.

Second, the OXY spot treatment is probably overdrying your skin, I'd cut down my use of that to once a day if you use it twice, or every other day.

Third, you may need a better moisturizer. Aveeno did SQUAT for me. But the Neutrogena moisturizer for combination skin may be a great bet for you. If you can splurge, you can go ahead and use Peter Thomas Roth's glycolic moisturizer - I find that I don't need to use stuff like OXY with that, and still get moisture.
Reply:all i can say is MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE MOISTURIZE!
Reply:i often have the same problem, i overdry my bipolar skin. the best solutions i have found is packaging tape and/or youthfyll essences.

with the packaging tape, you make a loop of it and kinda roll it on your face, like a lint roller, and it peels the dead skin up. yes, it actually works haha

and youthful essences, it's really expensive, but it sloughs off dead skin without drying, or clogging your pores.

hope these work for you too!
Reply:I think the less you put on your face the better. Try not scrubbing it, rubbing it, or using soap on it. Just use good old water on it in the shower, cleanse with a gentle face wipe and keep using moisturizer under your makeup. Always wash or cleanse (wipes) your face at night and put moisturizer on it then too. Just give it a little time and see what happens.
Reply:I use Cetaphil cream and it works fine for me. It was recommended by my dermatologist.
Reply:Healthy skin is one of the most common health and beauty concerns for people today, and rightfully so. Our skin is our bodies largest organ, and when our skin doesn’t look or feel good, it is exposed for the rest of the world to see.

Consequently, there are hundreds of companies selling thousands of products, all vying to have the best selling skin care product. Although this is not inherently bad, many of these companies charge an arm and a leg for products that are chemically based, pose a risk of skin irritation, and damage to the environment.

However, there are effective alternatives to chemical skin care. An all natural, home remedy can often achieve the same results as the chemically based products, but without any of the irritation or side effects.

One of the best forms of natural home skin care are masks. Masks can be made from a wide variety of ingredients at home to achieve whatever your skin care needs are. Furthermore, most of the ingredients are easy to find, and very affordable.

The most popular home made mask is an oatmeal mask It is a simple, completely safe mask, and it works perfectly for people with oily skin. The ingredients are as follows:

1/3 cup of regular or fast cook oatmeal (1-3 minutes)

¼ cup of honey

½ cup of water

Mix the water and the oatmeal together, and cook. Then, set the oatmeal aside to cool and thicken. As it is cooling, mix in the ¼ cup of honey. Once the mask is well mixed and cool, apply a thin even layer to the skin.

Be careful when applying this mask around the eyes. Though completely safe, the oatmeal can cause slight eye irritation. Better yet, place a used tea bag over the eyelids to reduce any redness or eye irritation.

The way this mask works is simple. The oatmeal in the mask is the primary “active” ingredient. It works to absorb excess oil on the skin and in the pores. Oatmeal will also help remove excess skin cells, and exfoliate the skin. The honey is simply there to turn the oatmeal into a pasty, sticky consistency that will adhere to the skin.

Another all natural skin treatment is to use lemon juice to help exfoliate and freshen the skin.

Lemon juice is a fruit acid, AKA Alpha Hydroxy Acid. It works in a similar fashion to salicylic acid, except that it is 100% all natural. It will help exfoliate the skin by reducing the “glue” that causes dead skin cells to stick to the skin.

This is one the simplest masks you can make, and is actually more of a “rinse” than anything. The only ingredients needed are water and lemon juice. Mix 1 part water to 5 parts lemon juice, and massage the solution onto your face. Then, rinse your face with cool water. Make sure to rinse well, because it can cause skin irritation if left on too long.

Even though these are all natural, it is always best to consult a dermatologist before using any skin care treatment. When used properly, these masks are effective alternatives to many of the expensive, chemical products sold in stores.
Reply:gently exfoliate and cleanse with baking soda and use jojoba oil, sesame oil, or olive oil as a moisturizer.use a mask of milk honey, and banana once or twice a week and chamomile helps soothe dry skin too.vitamin e is also a good moisturizer that's good for your hair, nails, and teeth.
Reply:Having a very dry and scaly skin, then your doctor may recommend you to use an all-natural cream that contains natural oils that gives soothing and glowing results or a prescription cream and ointment or other treatments in addition to home care. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.

If my face is super sensitive, but oily?

Should I use products for sensitive skin or for oily skin?

If my face is super sensitive, but oily?
if your skin is sensitive, use products for sensitive skin. since your face is oily, its okay if your skin dries out a bit. from the company clean and clear there is an astrigent that looks pink in the bottle that i use that is for sensitive skin and unclogs pores from oil very well
Reply:yeah try that
Reply:Your skin may be sensitive because of the harsh ingredients (preservatives and chemicals) in the skin care products and make up that you use. Try using a natural skin care line...one that won't clog your pores with synthetic oils and fillers. This will most likely reduce your oiliness and help with the sensitivity. I would HIGHLY recommend L'Bri Pure n' Natural Skin Care. Aloe is the first ingredient in this skin care line and it doesn't contain any synthetic oils or fillers (which may be the cause of your oiliness). The aloe is able to penetrate deep into the second and third layers of skin, and clean out your pores in the process. You'll notice a huge difference in your skin. Check it out at suenelson.lbri.com. It's affordable and comes with a 100 percent money back guarantee.

Question about dry skin?

okay so a couple things...

1: i rarely get dry skin, but i have a few red bumps in a small area on my calf that itch sometimes, is that dry skin? (there isnt any cracking or bleeding in the area)

2: if it is, can i shave over it? i usually dont shave that much in the winter, but im going to florida for winter break and i need to shave... (i always use lotion after i shave, incase that helps...)

3: if it is dry skin, what are the best lotions to use? i use aveeno right now, and i have pretty sensitive skin

ill choose a best answer (:

thanks!

Question about dry skin?
It sounds more like a little rash to me if its itching and you don't have it anywhere else on your body. I would use a rash cream and if it doesn't clear up see a doctor.
Reply:uh just buy any lotion that is 4 dry skin
Reply:moistruizer
Reply:yeh prob is dry skin you COULD as your doctor for a cream to get rid of it....but i think you should use Dove moisterizing soap on your face and body and put moisterixer on the specific spots that get dry but dont overdo it else youll get spots! also use one of those body puffs that exfoliate your skin will help keep fresh skin
Reply:serious skin care is a must to have a pimple free face and a healthy looking skin. the best way to keep the skin clean is to be able to stay away form moisture robbers like the sun, dry air and other dehydrating products. keep the skin moist all day and keep it hydrated by drinking adequate amount of water. an all natural moisturizer can be of great help in retaining the skin's moisture and rejuvenating the skin. healthy habits can also pave way to a healthy skin. for more tips on good skin care visit http://www.skinsosilky.com

My sons skin seems to have little bumps?

some of them look like little pimples??? hes 2 yrs old. i know it could be his skin changing but sometimes it worse then other days. i have very sensitive skin so im thinking he was blessed with my skin. any ideas how to get of these little things. my hubby always wants to pop them. i always just say leave them alone

My sons skin seems to have little bumps?
You are right to not let him pop them. :)

It is probably an allergic reaction. I recommend talking to a dermatologist first, and setting up an allergy test(to find out what he is allergic to, so you know to avoid it)
Reply:My pediatrician has recommended for my kids to use a phisoderm for children or sensitive skin formula. As children grow they get little bumps that look like whiteheads, it just excess calcium that their bodies don't need. The phisoderm will help. Don't pop them that could lead to scarring, and also don't scrub hard that will cause skin irritations later on in life. It's nothing to worry about and should completely clear up by the time he is 6-7. My 6 year old daughter still occasionally will get a tiny spot on her face but has mostly outgrown it.

Oily/Dry Skin Help!??!?

Ok i have oily skin, i started using (forgot what it was called) One Plus made in Paris Cleanser, its for sensitive skin, it drys up my skin, it works great i barely get oily now... but my face is alittle bit dry i see white dry marks around my cheeks and around my lips.. i also have Clean %26amp; Clear mositrzuer but if i apply it all on my face my face just gets oily... should i just dab some on the places where its dry?? is that ok??

Oily/Dry Skin Help!??!?
just put fresh lemon juice on your face overnight.. it will help.

it will also help heals pimple scars and other stuff
Reply:Eucerin products for dry skin. Keeps down the redness.
Reply:i think you have to scrub your face twice a week so you will get rid of those dead cells and then apply a light moisture cream like Bepanthol . it s great for sensitive skin, non greasy and it will keep your face moisturized all day. it will make it feel better. i would suggest you to stop using this cream anymore. it irritates your skin. try the one i told you. you ll see the difference.
Reply:you should use that cleanser less often as it drys your skin, i have the same type of skin, and if you don't stop using it, your face might become red and irritated.

try using something else or use it less often.
Reply:Try Cetaphil Cleanser - you can buy it just about anywhere and it's cheap. Stop using so much stuff, the more moisturizer you use the drier you will be. Depending on your age you could have chemical peels from a dermatolgist that would help.
Reply:Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an over-the-counter cream that contains lactic acid or lactic acid and urea.

In a more serious skin disease, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.

Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include hydrocortisone-containing lotions. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.

I believe http://www.skinsosilky.com/ will help you best for more advices, ideas and best treatments for any skin problem like dry skin.

How can I clean my skin, reduce redness, close my poors and prevent spots and dryness?

I'm a 20 year old guy, looking for some recommendations on a facial skin care regime. My confidence takes a hit when I don't think my skin is looking very clear, so I could do with some help.

--I have combination skin - it gets quite oily throughout the day (or over night), but after washing (or after swimming) it gets dry and flaky.

--The pores on my nose are quite large and I have trouble cleaning them. I often have to resort to trying to squeeze dirt from them, which leaves my skin very red, and is probably not good for it at all.

--I have pimples on my nose, forehead and chin/jawline which come and go - not severe, but noticable.

Currently I use a Clean%26amp;Clear cream wash for sensitive skin every morning and evening. I moisturise in the mornings using Clean%26amp;Clear Dual Action Moisturiser, but I think it is clogging my pores.

Can anyone recommend a better cleaning regime, and in particular, a way I can unclog the pores on my nose, and tighten them after?

Many thanks!

How can I clean my skin, reduce redness, close my poors and prevent spots and dryness?
if you dont mind getting a litttle metrosexual for the sake of clear skin here are my suggestions....

1. get a facial wash- almost any will work (its good if it has some salicylic acid) wash and rinse thoroughly

2. apply a clay mask and wait for it to harden then washs off (feel free to experiment with different brands and some specialize in oily skin of blackheads but i like clay because they absorb the oil)

3. get an exfoliating scrub and massage into face in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes then rinse

4. use a toner by putting some on a cotton ball then rubbnig on face

5 Finally a moisturizer! very important. Oil of olay makes a great one that is for combination skin.

Do #1,4,5 twice a day and 2 and 3 a couple times a week. keep a cleanser a moisturizer with you use immediately after swimming. drink tons of water, wash your pillow case often because oil from your hair and face get on it, use nose strips to get the blackheads (they hurt but hey, beauty is pain!), and avoid touching your face as much as possible because it just adds the oil from your hands.

I know it's a lot of work but if you can stick with it, you will see results. good luck
Reply:proactive
Reply:proactive. its fantastic
Reply:proactive work really well on quite a few of those skin problems and try asking a dermatologist so you dont make your skin any worser.
Reply:I recommend using a line of products by DDF (Doctor's Dermatological Formulas). I personally use their products and love them. They have an acne line that is awesome. I love their Blemish Foaming Cleanser a must for everyday cleansing. Then use the pumice scrub once or twice a week this helps with the black heads. They have a lotion that is a matte formula so it keeps your face from looking oily but also keeps it from drying out. For spot treatments use benzoyl peroxide or sulfur. And of course drink lots of water, that is key to healthy skin. Good luck!
Reply:Try proactiv solution by Rodan %26amp; Fields.

Many dermatologists recommend this product--and the makers of this product are actual dermatologists.

I got mine in the mall at a kiosk in the middle of the mall walkway.

They have an 800 #, but I can't find it...So just go to proactiv.com.

Good luck!!
Reply:go to a health store and look for a tea tree oil face wash and then find a good moisturizer for your pores like biore.
Reply:Oh man stay away from Clean and Clear, its one of the worse products out there. I should know cause I've tried almost every brand. After using it it still leaves your skin greasy huh?

You need to get a regular bar of soap like Lever 2000 or Neutregena's pore refining. Then you get Neutregenas astrigent(the blue one) use it before bed. For lotion use Jergens, it wont clog your pores-in the morning wash your face off.

Very simple, no?

Just fallow my recomendations and youll see for yourself :)

good luck!
Reply:For acne, the best product I've ever used is clear.now

You can order it at www.jewel.mychoices.biz

For general skin care, my husband uses "Tolsom" products -- it's a mens skin care line and it makes his skin really smooth and nice :)
Reply:I could provide you samples of the men line that my husband uses and you would love it. His complexion is pretty much as yours, oily in the T zones with large pores, in only one week of been using the production I see a huge difference on his skin.

My babys skin?

My seven month old boy has very dry scaley rough red skin on his forehead, and cheeks. He also has this skin condition in his creases on his legs and arms. Once it got so irritated that it was oozing sticky stuff. Sometimes his face gets really clear though. The doc said it was eczema and to put hydrcortizone and benzoyl peroxide. To me this is too harsh for sensitive skin. Is there anything over the counter that I could buy that would really help clear this and help with the itching?

My babys skin?
i know what you are going through first just let me say i commend you for doing all you can and getting more advice it hard when all moms trust the md you know with the joy of our hearts - so GOOD JOB MOM KEEP ON YOU ROCK That sounds lilke chemical burn(which oozes) and excema which i had experience with with my little babe Try eucrin, aquaphor or cerve it a new cream and has fatty acids missing that hold in moisture just plain vaseline(3-5x daily the first week and then less lol) - don't use any soap with purfume(aveeno only a dap in the water not on the towel) or dye just water until it heals on the face and creases - also try to bath less and pat dry don't rub and use half the amount of washing powder you use now in his cloths it with no softener.

if that dosen't work for you i would call a dermatologist or have your md try a steroid cream and make sure that you are consistant with putting the creams on untill the skin stops oozing also when it oozes use the perozide - it dries the puss and keep it from getting infected if the oozing is bad (my cousin had really bad ezcema his mom added pinch of oats to the bath water to dry out the sores and cracks)and then add theput it cream (in the box for a minute cool) it will make him feel so much better
Reply:Try some no scented Aveeno Baby oatmeal.
Reply:My son has had excema since he was months old and I haven't found anything over the counter that works. I would ask for a prescription cortizone ointment or cream. Good luck!
Reply:I have excema and had it really bad as a child. There is a cream and soap called Cetaphil. It is wonderful. It is the only thing I will use on my daughter when her skin is acting up. You may already know this, but if you are using scented or colored laundry detergent or if anyone around him wears perfume, it could also be inrritating his skin. Sometimes food allergies can make the situation worse as well. Dairy is a common irritant so try cutting dairy for a couple of days and see if that helps. But I would definitely recommend Cetaphil!
Reply:Benadryl and get some medicine for excema wich is a skin condition that gives you rashes and itchy you could also get some sylvadine which can sooth itching., and clear up rashes good luck

My Daughter is 6 months and has a very bad skin condition anyone heard or seen this??

Her skin has always been very sensitive to EVERYTHING. About two months ago we notice her skin getting dry and peeling--She starting itching!! She itches her skin so bad she bleeds, she has scratches all over her (we have to stick mittins, socks on her hands but she bites them off) She has red bumps all over her, her skin is peeling. The dotctors thought maybe it was her formula so they put her on Soy but, she is still ICHING uncontrolably!! We have tryed everything from perscriptions, to any kind of VERY DRY SENSITIVE SKIN lotions we can find! Nothing works, We have tried changing everything we could think of laundry soap, shampoo everything....Any IDEAS??

My Daughter is 6 months and has a very bad skin condition anyone heard or seen this??
I am glad you asked this question because maybe i can help! I have a 7 month old son who went through the exact same thing, and is just starting to get over it. The y tried to change his formula many times, and his food, and laundry soaps, etc. It got to the point where i had to sew socks onto the ends of his shirts because he would scratch himnself so bad that he left bloddy scratch marks!

Lotion actually will make it worse, so try avoiding that from now one, as well as creams with oils or Vaseline. Also avoid long contact with soap, water, heat, and cold. Sweat makes it worse, so try and keep her clean and dry.

The doctor said that our son had eczema. However, we tried all the medicines for eczema and they didnt work. We figured out that it was more than just eczema, it was a combination of that and Psoriasis, which is almost the same thing, but treated complelty different.

We have found only one thing that works, and i hope you can try it for your daughter. It called Psoriasin Gel. It's over the counter, but can cost about $30. We bought our's at Walmart. Since we have used this on our son, his skin condition has disappear about 95%!, and we no longer have to put socks on his hands...lol!

Good luck to you and your daughter!
Reply:Sounds like eczema, and there are plenty of creams in pharmaceutical stores.
Reply:Just infant dermatitis. It will probably go away, just keep it clean and moisturized and if it persists, see your doctor.
Reply:I was the same when i was born it took years for me to grow out of it. like your daughter they changed my formula but that wasn't enough. I couldn't use soap and my mother couldn't use a lot of detergent to wash my clothes. see if your doctor can if you some cream for her i know that they can i have used it.
Reply:My son has had the same thing lately, not quite as bad as you are describing. If you are bottle feeding, are you using latex(brown) nipples? I figured out my son is allergic to latex when he was about a month old, switched his nipples to silicone and rash went away. My doc also told me he has eczema, have you tried Elidel cream. It works pretty good, and his rashes are fading some. Have you tried giving her a bath in Aveeno oatmeal bath? That works wonders! Hope I helped some... Good luck!!
Reply:I think your baby has eczema. It could be triggered by just about anything- food, clothes, or other allergies. Everything cotton is the best, and I hear that All free and clear laundry detergent with no fabric softener is good. Keep her nails short, and you might want to try using a humidifier in her room if you live in a dry area. I hear oatmeal baths work well, too. Keep trying things to see what works and to find out what she's allergic to.
Reply:Some people don't realize that those "baby" products that we are told to use on our little ones probably contain formaldehyde - what we use to put in dead people. It is most commonly in the ingredients under the name quaternium-15. Formaldehyde causes, among about 30 other things, chronic ear infections and skin irritations. My son was two years old when I switched to safer healthier products and at the time my son was experiencing severe eczema since infancy. He also had 4 ear infections and the doctors began discussing putting in tubes. Within four days of switching to the healthier and safer products all but a spot of eczema on his cheek were gone, and within two weeks that was gone also. Just a little experience I had! And it is reassuring to know that the products I use aren't harmful to my baby boy!

Reply:You need to take her to a DERMATOLOGIST not her reg. Dr. This is something that they can get under control...so she is comfortable.
Reply:It sounds like eczema.2 of my 3 kids have it.It can be very itchy.Don't use anything with alcohol in it.Don't use anything scented. My kids use hydrocortisone and elidel. They both work really well.I hope this helps you out.Good luck!
Reply:My 6 month old daughter has a few patches of skin like that too. I was given a special cream which actually helps a yeast kind of skin rash. But my pediatrician also told me to use Eucerin. The calming lotion I believe but all of them are good. Just lather that on the spots whenever you see them getting dry and hopefully that works. Also get a second opinion if your doctors are only saying its the formula.
Reply:my daghter has the same thing i use elidel, hydrocortisone cream, triple antibiotic ointment, bactroban cream.have you tryed putting a little bleach in her bath water the doctor told me to do this and it help alot.
Reply:go to a dermatologist, maybe they can help
Reply:Dermatologist asap.
Reply:My son did that and went to a dermatologist he has eczema. You need to take your child to the doctor and get cream, because if they dig at it it will get infected and that is not any fun to deal with.
Reply:There's a lot of great answers for this one... but one things that was briefly mentioned was the allergy. You might consider an allergist. Also, my son has Celiac Disease. His manifests (most common) as a GI disorder, however there is also a form of it that is a dermatitis. This is fairly rare - though not as much as doctors would like us to think. It is an intolerance to Wheat Gluten.

I hope you find the reason/cause. I know its hard when your child isn't feeling his/her best.

Good Luck.
Reply:It sounds like eczema. All the scratching could have infected it. It becomes impetigo. She may need antibiotics. See a dermatologist. If your Dr. doesn't know and just keeps giving her Rxs, that's not good for her either. Some meds actually make rashes worse. Please get a referral for a dermatologist. It's your best bet. Good luck.
Reply:Take her an Allergist, or a Dermatologist one. I'd go for the Allergist though.
Reply:My daughter had something simialr but not quite so severe. Nothing we found worked either and prescription medication left a small scar on her leg so we quit using it. We finally discovered this lotion that worked very well. Aveeno baby care lotion is the name of it. Let me tell you, it is expensive but anything is better than scarring your child from dermatologic creams.
Reply:Just wondering if you have tried anything natural like aloe vera. My friend makes a cream for her brother in law that has seriasus. I think it is a vitamin E based cream with aloe, burgamont oil, lemon grass, and im pretty sure there is something else. It works really well, I got her to make it for my god daughter. I'm also pretty sure she got the recipe on da net but not to sure where.
Reply:my baby had somthing similar that the dr diagnosed as eczema. we used cetaphil to bathe %26amp; moisturize (dr recommended)and it went away. also, if you arent using dreft or baby all- you may want to consider switching-- it might help. in the meantim, see a derm.

good luck!!
Reply:wow im sorry maybe u should try web md
Reply:i agree with ladlo

some creams can make it worse stick to e45 cream
Reply:i have eczema too but i control it with cortizone-10 and gold bond lotion. availabel at any walgreens. it works wonders, really soft skin too.
Reply:eczema probably...its normal and it isnt contagious...just irritating.
Reply:It sounds like infantile eczema to me but you should get a proper diagnosis. My 10 month old daughter had the same thing. I changed my soap powder to SURCARE it is perfume free and you can get in the supermarket. I stopped using anything in the bath apart from oilatum you get it from the chemist. I also applied hydrocortisone 1% to her skin and the eczema cleared up within days. I now moisturise her skin x2 daily with a cream called AVEENO I get it on prescription from my GP and it is miracle stuff. Her skin is now beautiful. Even when you get your daughters skin cleared up it is important to moisturise the skin at least twice daily as dry skin is what triggers the eczema. Hope this helps I know how distressing it is! Please get a proper diagnosis though.
Reply:my 9 month old is like that but doesn't scratch. His skin feels so rough at times and everything seems to irritate him. The doctor said it was infantile eczema.
