My babys skin?

My seven month old boy has very dry scaley rough red skin on his forehead, and cheeks. He also has this skin condition in his creases on his legs and arms. Once it got so irritated that it was oozing sticky stuff. Sometimes his face gets really clear though. The doc said it was eczema and to put hydrcortizone and benzoyl peroxide. To me this is too harsh for sensitive skin. Is there anything over the counter that I could buy that would really help clear this and help with the itching?

My babys skin?
i know what you are going through first just let me say i commend you for doing all you can and getting more advice it hard when all moms trust the md you know with the joy of our hearts - so GOOD JOB MOM KEEP ON YOU ROCK That sounds lilke chemical burn(which oozes) and excema which i had experience with with my little babe Try eucrin, aquaphor or cerve it a new cream and has fatty acids missing that hold in moisture just plain vaseline(3-5x daily the first week and then less lol) - don't use any soap with purfume(aveeno only a dap in the water not on the towel) or dye just water until it heals on the face and creases - also try to bath less and pat dry don't rub and use half the amount of washing powder you use now in his cloths it with no softener.

if that dosen't work for you i would call a dermatologist or have your md try a steroid cream and make sure that you are consistant with putting the creams on untill the skin stops oozing also when it oozes use the perozide - it dries the puss and keep it from getting infected if the oozing is bad (my cousin had really bad ezcema his mom added pinch of oats to the bath water to dry out the sores and cracks)and then add theput it cream (in the box for a minute cool) it will make him feel so much better
Reply:Try some no scented Aveeno Baby oatmeal.
Reply:My son has had excema since he was months old and I haven't found anything over the counter that works. I would ask for a prescription cortizone ointment or cream. Good luck!
Reply:I have excema and had it really bad as a child. There is a cream and soap called Cetaphil. It is wonderful. It is the only thing I will use on my daughter when her skin is acting up. You may already know this, but if you are using scented or colored laundry detergent or if anyone around him wears perfume, it could also be inrritating his skin. Sometimes food allergies can make the situation worse as well. Dairy is a common irritant so try cutting dairy for a couple of days and see if that helps. But I would definitely recommend Cetaphil!
Reply:Benadryl and get some medicine for excema wich is a skin condition that gives you rashes and itchy you could also get some sylvadine which can sooth itching., and clear up rashes good luck
