Help shaving sensitive face!?

I have thick, coarse hair on my face, and have always had trouble with rashes after shaving. I shave in a hot shower or in a hot bath, I use sensitive skin lotion, and I have tried all the razors, I just bought the gillette phantom. I have tried Nevea after-shave balm, and even vasoline intensive care. I still get rashes when I shave against the grain, and even when I just shave down. Will I ever be able to shave against the grain? What are my options?

Help shaving sensitive face!?
Try waxing! And have it done by a nice salon, they will know what they are doing, and have seen everything in the book. And it will stay away a lot longer so you won't irritate it so much unlike if you were to save.
Reply:Blah
Reply:I say try threading. It hurts the first time but the results are amazing and totally worth it.
Reply:You can wax it off- one option.

If you insist on shaving, if you can get in the habit of using a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to rid of dead cells, and make sure to use an astringant like a 50/50 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water to kill bacteria in the small cuts on your face. Avoid sun exposure to freshly shaved areas, do not apply moisturizers if your skin is that severely sensitive. You might try a light coat of neosporin and shave before bed. If you shave before bed, make sure your pillow case is fresh and clean- any oil body soil can creep it's way into broken- even small cuts and create a rash.

If the rash doesn't go away you might be spreading something like eczema- dry sensitive skin that when shaving becomes inflamed and irritated. I would ask a doctor to evaluate it.
Reply:The best combo that I have found is the Aveno Oatmeal Shave Gel and a Gilette Excel
Reply:Use all natural product from whole food and trader joes
Reply:ALWAYS USE A VERY GOOD RAZOR EVEN IF IT COST A LITTLE EXTRA $$$$$$$ I NOTICED THE CHEAP AS DIRT RAZORS GIVE ME WILD RAZOR BURNS ON MY LEGS ....... ALL I COULD SAY IS YOU MIGHT CAN TRY A BIC WOMANS RAZOR IF WANT TO SAVE A LITTLE MONEY PUT I HADNT HAD PROBLEMS OUT OF THEM SO FAR ........ THE ONE I USE ARE THE CLEAR COLORFUL ONES WHICH DO REALLY GOOD ON ME AND YES MY HUBBY USES THEM ON HIS FACE TOO AND I NEVER SEE A RASH ON HIM ANYMORE SINCE WE HAVE BEEN USING THE BIC RAZORS
Reply:The problem is not your razor. The problem is your skin care products.Use NutriMenC RE Resurface shave gel.It is formulated for exactly what you are describing.Your skin is very sensitive to some of the chemicals in the shave gels you are using. This stuff works!!!
