Olive oil on skin?

I have used everything on my dry sensitive skin, and nothing works.....The only thing that gives it relief is olive oil (the kind you cook with) has anyone haerd of the side effects of using this type of olive oil on the skin? For example can it darken the skin?

Olive oil on skin?
Its great stuff.....I work with a couple of ladies who use it head to toe - and they have killer skin. I use it on my legs when its real dry out - like in the dead of winter here in the midwest - but its too heavy for me everywhere else....it gives me black heads - Yuck.....

But there are no side effects of using them topically.....as in medical side effects....
Reply:The only thing I've had go wrong with olive oil is that it made my hands smell weird. You should be fine.
Reply:I have very dry sensitive skin as well and have started taking baths instead of showers. I've been putting a little olive oil and or baby oil in the bath and getting the water almost intolerably hot and soaking in it for a while. My skin feels much much better than it did even a week ago.
